Two of my Cooking Club friends, Priscilla and Thayer, and I recently went on a "Culinary Tour" of Dallas with La Cuisine Maison.
We met our leader, Carol, then set out in vans.
Our first stop was the Dallas Farmers Market. Carol took us to some of her favorite vendors, and then we shopped on our own for a bit.
We visited Pastabilities and the Koster Cattle Company, two shops adjacent to the Farmers Market. The owners had prepared some delicious samples for us.
The pasta was as tasty as it was pretty!
We climbed back into the vans and drove to Paula Lambert's Mozzarella Company in Deep Ellum next where we learned about the cheese-making process and sampled several of her wonderful fresh cheeses.
My favorite stop was Jimmy's Food Store in East Dallas.
Jimmy's is an Italian market with lots of tempting food and wine on display. Its bakery and delicatessan were especially appealing. Priscilla bought a pan of meatball lasagna and reported later that it was a big hit with her family. We ate lunch in Jimmy's beautiful wine room in the back.
We continued on to Fiesta, where Carol showed us their wide selection of inexpensive produce, spices and ethnic foods.
Our last venue was a tiny Asian specialty shop.
It was a fun day full of good food and culinary inspiration!
