Update on Vivian - 7/8, part II.

After my traumatic morning with Vivian, the rest of my day has gone quite well.

My mom and I ran a couple of errands and then came back to the house to unwind while Robert and his mother stayed with Vivian at the hospital. Robert came home just before dinner and reported that although the doctors were weaning Vivian off of her sedatives (slowly this time) in hopes of performing an EEG in the morning, she had been peaceful and quiet all afternoon.

My mom, Robert and I enjoyed a delicious meal that a good friend brought. After dinner my mom went into the living room and began to play old hymns on the piano (my mom plays beautifully by ear). I lay down on the sofa in there and quietly sang along to Take My Hand, Precious Lord, Great is Thy Faithfulness, Holy, Holy, Holy, What a Friend We Have in Jesus, Love Divine, All Loves Excelling and many, many more. My mom must have played for an hour. I had forgotten how comforting and powerful hymns could be. I was overcome by the greatest sense of peace and truly felt God's tangible presence. What an incredible blessing my mom and those hymns were.

Later this evening Robert and I went back to the hospital. Vivian was still resting peacefully when we arrived. I lay down in the bed beside her and sang some of the hymns to her. Robert and I read some Psalms and prayed over Vivian. At one point Robert rubbed some Carmex on Vivian's lips, and she squirmed and made a sour face, a very typical Vivian reaction!

I can't explain the difference between my demeanor this morning and tonight other than that God heard your prayers asking Him to guard my heart and my mind with a peace that passes all understanding. Surely He also hears your petitions for healing for our sweet Vivian.

Thanks to each of you.

"Because of the Lord's great love we are not consumed, for His compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness." Lamentations 3:22-23

Have been thinking about you all and praying for you all afternoon Eloise. I was overjoyed to get your email and read about the rest of your day. I was listening to How Great Thou Art as I read your email and am so glad you were able to find peace though so many beautiful hymns. I am praying for continued healing for Vivian and praying that your entire family is able to rest and be at peace. God is good all the time and all the time God is good.

I am so happy that you are feeling a peace. It may be that Vivian was just taken off the meds too abruptly and her body rebelled. How wonderful that today you could feel God holding you and how He has comforted you. And I am sure having your mom with you makes all the difference, too. YOU needed that. xoxo

Eloise,
Thank you for taking the time to keep us updated. So glad I woke up to read this entry tonight.
I have prayed for you all many times today...I am so thankful that the Lord we serve hears our prayers and allows us the opportunity to see the body of Christ at work.
I am thankful that both your and Robert's Mother are here to provide their loving support.
I continue to pray for Sweet Vivian as she slowly wakes up from her slumber. Praying for healing for Sweet Vivian and peace for Mom and Dad.
I love that you all shared the songs and the Psalms with Vivian tonight!

Just as your mother's love ministered to you, your love and concern for Vivian will bring her through this. I am just so sorry it is difficult for you.
While I love much of the newer Christian music, there is just something so special about the familiar hymns with which we grew up. May today bring even more peace and answered prayers.

No matter our age...we always need our moms. I am so grateful that you finally felt some peace. It sounds like both you and Vivian rested well last night. May this sense of calm stay with you throughout the coming days as HIS grace continues to heal your sweet Vivian. I am still praying and checking for updates. God bless you all.

Heavenly Father,

You are intimately aware of the struggle Vivian is experiencing -- the pain and the despair. You know the desire of her Mom's heart, praying for Vivian to be healed of this illness. I ask now for Your healing touch. I know that You are able and that just like in Bible times, You can heal her.

I also understand that You will chose what is best for Vivian. I pray that through this trial, It will continually draw her close to You , and that You will continue to be her comfort and strength.

I pray that ultimately, whatever happens, You will be glorified through it all. I pray this in Jesus’ name

Amen

That post gave me chills. Just talking about the hymns was comforting and soothing and uplifting, all at the same time. I hope that you are able to have many more moments like that during this difficult time. I will continue to pray for Vivian and your family. May the weekend go well!

Eloise, we've been out of town for the past two weeks; I had no idea you were going through all of this. :( My thoughts and prayers are with Vivian. I know I'm not local to you, but I have a lot of connections in Dallas; if I can help in ANY way, please please let me know. You are one strong momma.
