Labor Day update.

Hockey Boy's team lost yesterday. He was so disappointed as they had beaten these opponents solidly the day before. Our team outshot the other guys 40-21, but according to Robert, the opposing goalie (who is a friend of Will's from a team several years ago) played "lights out" and our boys just couldn't score enough times. Robert did a great job keeping me updated via text messages during the game.

On a brighter note, my team won the morning session at our bridge tournament, and Robert came in second in his age group in a local Labor Day race.

Today is off to a great start. I was able to awaken and dress Vivian without much incident. Once I got her downstairs though, she settled into a chair in the den and didn't want to budge when the bus pulled up ("I don't want to go to school. I want to stay home and watch
Dumbo"). Then I remembered that Mr. K, her aide from school, was coming by to help today. Lo and behold, I looked out the front window and he was waiting by the bus to see if I would need assistance. I summoned him inside, and he walked up to Vivian and said, "C'mon, big girl. Let's go to school." Vivian stood up, grabbed his hand and walked straight out the door and onto the bus. Wow! If only I had such powers of persuasion!

What a successful day! Well, except for the hockey loss, but Hockey Boy wins for great sportsmanship!! How sweet that your husband kept you up-to-date at the game by texting.

Too bad about the hockey game. That must be hard to deal with your son's disappointment. :( I just had to laugh about your comment on my blog today, because I always say that not knowing the gender of my daughter was supremely motivating! Finding out the gender was the reward at the end of the (long) road! Have a great day!
