Remembering.

American Flag

One of my favorite blogs is From the Frontlines. Its author, Mary Alice, has a wonderful way with words and is alternately amusing and poignant in her posts.

Mary Alice's husband serves in the United States Air Force, and today she has a beautiful essay on how 9/11 affected her family: A Loss of Innocence

Heartfelt thanks to all military families for their every day sacrifices.

I am so grateful for the men and women who serve our country with dignity and resolve. I wish there wasn't a reason for them to.

That is one of the most beautiful pictures of the American flag I have ever seen. I hope you don't mind if I borrow it for a future blog.

BTW, I've been meaning to tell you that I also had my own "hockey boy". He's 24 now but I went through everything you're going through. The last years of high school were especially hard as he was playing on the school's varsity team while also playing Junior hockey with a traveling team all weekend. Then won a scholarship to play at college and when he got there was too burned out to play. It took him a year and a half in college before he decided to put the skates back on. I cried that day just seeing him on the ice again.

What a great ride it was though. My husband and I miss those days enormously. Enjoy it while you can.

Thanks for the link. There was a programme on over here called The 9/11 Faker - about the woman who lied about being above the crash (who wasn't even in NY when it happened). I hadn't heard of her before and watched it in disbelief.9/11 changed the world forever. The programme also interviewed some survivors - the courage they showed was incredibly humbling.
