It's a boy!

Zoo Atlanta has a new baby panda, born August 30 to its Giant Panda Lun Lun, who is on loan from China.

There is a video of the birth on the Zoo Atlanta web site.  It is amazing and not at all graphic. That Lun Lun recognizes the squealing little hairless creature as her baby and knows to nurture it is a true miracle of nature.

Zoo Atlanta has a *Panda Cam* that is quite fun (and addicting!) to watch. After Zoo Atlanta's first baby panda, Mei Lan, was born two years ago, my kids and I loved watching her growth and development via the Panda Cam.

The girls and I were able to see the panda exhibit when we were in Atlanta after visiting my sister and her family for Easter in 2007.  Mei Lan was absolutely adorable.

We look forward to watching this new little panda as well!

It is amazing, isn't it?

I closely watched, for at least a year, the cam at the National Zoo in DC when a panda baby was born on my birthday in 2005. I felt a special bond. LOL
